Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Job Description:

The Division Manager - Infrastructure will be responsible for overseeing the profitability of their designated business unit. Key responsibilities include managing projects, processes, customer relationships, and a team of employees within the division. As part of the senior leadership team for the Construction Division, the incumbent will participate in management team meetings and work together to set strategic objectives for the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing professional development of project managers and teams through one-on-one sessions, project assistance, and input.
  • Providing oversight and accountability for project deliverables, initiating project reviews, and ensuring risks are continuously assessed and mitigated.
  • Reviewing tenders, including strategies for winning, identifying key risks, opportunities, key suppliers, and subcontractors/partners, and providing a challenge function on costs (sanity check) and reviewing mark-up.
  • Collaborating regularly with other managers to monitor workload, transfer information, and advance corporate priorities.
  • Forecasting tenders, specifically for complicated and integrated jobs, to facilitate technical knowledge for creating a bid team.
  • Reviewing contractual documents to ensure risk mitigation for the overall business unit and that risk is aligned and acceptable with Tomlinson.
  • Managing and developing teams to ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with designs, budget, and schedules.
  • Maintaining consistent integrated communications with project management and operations.
  • Working with the project team to communicate and understand the progress of projects (issues, claims, etc.).
  • Ensuring the quality of work completed meets company standards.
  • Building and supporting a safety culture.
  • Ensuring company policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Employee management, including mentoring and development of staff, evaluating employee training and development courses, selecting employees to attend, making salary and bonus recommendations, recommending hires and dismissals, writing and delivering evaluations and development plans to direct reports, defining direct reports' performance goals, and ensuring alignment with overall corporate goals.
  • Developing and improving processes for executing the construction division's work.
  • Establishing roles and responsibilities for employees.
  • Participating in monthly cost review meetings.
  • Participating in decisions on what work is necessary to maintain a full schedule.
  • Reviewing and approving invoices.
  • Reviewing submissions for projects (schedules, traffic control plans, etc.) when necessary.
  • Working with existing and potential clients to foster partnerships on potential projects.
  • Ensuring P-6 schedules are created and updated weekly to provide a macro-level work-on-hand schedule for all field operations.
  • Participating in business development activities and client relations.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office conditions.
  • Working conditions are normal for a construction industry environment, including weekly job site visits, visiting job sites where there may be physical aspects of navigating rough terrain, climbing, and using a ladder.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Education, Experience & Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, CET, bachelor's degree in business or equivalent, or equivalent additional experience.
  • 15+ years of construction experience.
  • Shoring and piling experience considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience managing large teams.
  • Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience with direct supervision of employees.
  • Ability to act as the company spokesperson and delivery of key messaging.
  • Experience with development and execution of strategic plans.
