Perinatal Care Specialist Job Description

Oak Valley Health is seeking a highly skilled Perinatal Care Specialist to join our Childbirth and Children's Centre team. As a Perinatal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to patients and families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases in a single room maternity care setting.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients and families during the perinatal period
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote a positive birthing experience and ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

**Requirements:**

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in good standing
• BScN preferred or evidence of working towards it
• Minimum of 2 years of recent perinatal experience
• Peri-operative experience
• Current neonatal resuscitation (NRP) certification required
• Current BCLS certification
• Current AWHONN or PPPESO Fetal Health Surveillance Monitoring Certification expected
• Completion of a breastfeeding course or a commitment to complete within 3 months of employment
• Perinatal/Obstetrical Certificate Program an asset
• RNAO membership preferred
• Excellent physical assessment skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family-centered care environment
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
• Well-developed organization, communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills
• Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education, and leadership experience
• Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
• Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization-related policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

**Work Schedule:**

The successful candidate will be required to work 12 hour shifts, days and nights. Schedules may change based on operational needs.

**Compensation:**

Band J: $37.96 – $54.42
