Salary: $80,000 per year

About the Role

The Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role within our Community Impact Division to implement and maintain strategic approaches to assigned strategies by developing, supporting, and leading a portfolio of investments and partnerships across the St. Louis region.

This dynamic position requires expertise in grantmaking, collaboration, and partnership development to optimize impact and advance key strategies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong written and oral communication skills, and a positive attitude with a self-starter mentality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of community investments to improve lives in the region.
  • Oversee management of the portfolio fund, coordinating grant processes, and facilitating distribution of funds.
  • Assess organizational and programmatic performance of agencies to ensure effective resource investment.
  • Cultivate positive community partnerships through regular communication and site visits.
  • Recruit, train, and manage community investment volunteers.
  • Build collaborative networks between fund recipients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure reliable data availability for United Way and partners.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building to strengthen providers and networks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Public Health, or related field with 5 years experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Solid ability to assess and monitor organizational performance.
  • Experience in grantmaking and collaborative work.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate common tables with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and local stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and self-starter mentality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various community groups and partners.
