Job Description

Job Title: Director of Emergency Shelters

Job Summary:

Nelson/Kraft and Associates is seeking a seasoned executive to lead our client, Mission Services of London, as the Director of Emergency Shelters. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and addiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to Mission Services of London's emergency shelters, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to clients.
  • Develop and implement effective operational plans, including budgeting, resource allocation, and staff management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build strong relationships and secure funding to support shelter operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in crisis services.
  • Translate the organization's strategic vision into achievable objectives, driving short- and long-term planning to support the Vision, Mission, and Values.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a related field.
  • 8-10 years of senior-level leadership/management experience in a related field, preferably in the not-for-profit/social service sector.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financial activities, including capital and operating budgets and strategic planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and de-escalation techniques.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion to handle sensitive/high-stakes situations with a level head; solid negotiation and interpersonal skills.
