Senior Investment Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Investment Manager to join our Investments Team at Stonewood Group Inc. as a key contributor to our Venture Capital investments.
Key Responsibilities- Valuation and Deal Management
Manage the valuation process, utilizing standard valuation techniques to ensure accurate assessments of investment opportunities.
Deal Team LeadershipLead deal teams through all stages of transaction delivery, from due diligence to negotiation and closing of documentation.
Network and OriginationUtilize personal networks and experience in Canadian VC networks to originate transactions, manage portfolio companies, and identify relevant trends and opportunities.
Senior Advisory RoleAct as a senior advisor to deal teams on any or all aspects of transactions, providing expertise and guidance.
Team Collaboration and MentorshipBe a key resource and mentor to the Investments Team, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Financial Analysis and ModelingAnalyze the needs of the client and understand our client's capabilities to determine the best financial tool to meet each particular need.
Liaison and CommunicationLiaise with senior management of existing or proposed investments, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Complexity and Risk ManagementHave a background with deep modeling skills, reviewing the work of others and overseeing the development of complex cash flow models.
Due Diligence and ApprovalWork in collaboration with business development and other teams to perform due diligence, obtain necessary approvals, and achieve objectives.
Negotiation and Board RepresentationDemonstrated ability to negotiate with very senior parties (VC partners and CEOs) and assume Observer (and/or Board seats) on Boards of Directors for portfolio companies.
Reporting and InsightsContribute to various reporting requirements for the Investments Program, providing insights into technology and industry trends and emerging market opportunities.
Strategic Planning and DevelopmentHave a solid understanding of: Board Director and Board Committee functions, Director and Shareholder rights and liabilities, rights as a lender, derivatives, fund investing, insolvency and bankruptcy laws, valuation techniques, and mergers, acquisitions, and public capital markets.
Industry Expertise and Thought LeadershipMay be requested to be a guest speaker or panel member at certain industry events, contributing to the evaluation and development of the Investments Program's strategic plan.
Requirements- Experience
7 or more years of work experience in venture capital, including origination, execution, management, and exit of investments.
Technical SkillsDemonstrated experience in having made sound investments in Venture Capital, Tech Investment assessment, deal sourcing, and personal Venture Capital networks (Canadian, US, and International).
Financial and Analytical SkillsExcellent financial analysis, credit, and modeling skills, with a clear understanding of complex contracts and potential legal implications of clauses.
Communication and CollaborationEffective negotiation and presentation skills (external and/or internal), strong collaboration and teamwork skills, and strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Education and CertificationsBroad multiple sector knowledge, solid knowledge of international business practices and international trade, and an Engineering or Science undergraduate degree is an asset.
