As a Recreation Assistant, you will be an integral part of our collaborative team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to service excellence, integrity, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise patients and assist with fitness floor supervision to ensure safety and accident prevention
  • Ensure rules and boundaries are followed by patients
  • Address inappropriate or unsafe behaviours with patients and report any concerns to the clinical team and management
  • Consult with patients regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on how to properly and safely use the equipment
  • Support all patient/staff programs and encourage the use of other recreation facilities (tennis courts, gymnasium, and grounds)
  • Conduct tours of the fitness centre and promote programs and services available
  • Respond to inquiries and provide information to patients and staff
  • Sign-out recreation equipment and maintain inventory of items available for patient use
  • Record patient and staff 'sign-in' statistics
  • Make appointments for massage therapists

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Recreation Leadership, Recreation Therapy, Kinesiology, Health Studies, or related field
  • Experience working with mental health and addictions populations
  • Valid CPR Certification
  • Personal Training/Group Fitness training an asset
  • Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for patients
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Mature with a genuine interest in working with diverse individuals and commitment to providing quality service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Evidence of a good work and attendance record
  • Commitment to working within Homewood's Health and Safety Standards
