Commercial HVAC Service Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician to join our team in the Ottawa, ON area. As a commercial service technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and servicing various commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience working with commercial HVAC equipment and hold Canadian federal government clearance of 'Reliability' status or higher.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting and Repairing Equipment: Troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including split systems, package units, and chillers, as well as ancillary supporting components.
  • Commissioning and Start-up: Perform commissioning and start-up of Trane controls and HVAC equipment.
  • Building Control Systems: Troubleshoot and repair building control systems, optimizing controls and equipment for better usage by owners.
  • Equipment Replacements: Perform replacements and modifications of HVAC equipment or systems as needed or requested.
Requirements:
  • Certifications and Experience: Hold Canadian federal government clearance of 'Reliability' status or higher and have 5+ years of experience servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Operating Knowledge: Possess operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and be comfortable with hand-held devices.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Hold a valid driver's license with no major or frequent traffic violations.
  • Work Schedule: Be able to work on-call rotation and/or overtime to support the business, including occasional overnight stays.

The estimated salary for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
