Job Title: Academic Expert in Environmental Policy

We are seeking an accomplished academic with a passion for environmental policy to join our faculty at the University of Ottawa. This tenure-track position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to our research and teaching programs while advancing your career as a scholar.

About the Position:

This role involves researching and teaching courses related to environmental policy, with a focus on developing practical solutions that address real-world challenges. As an Assistant Professor, you will be expected to develop a productive research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise students, and participate in departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct original research in environmental policy, with a focus on Canada-specific contexts
  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, using innovative approaches to engage students
  • Supervise graduate students, providing guidance and mentorship throughout their research projects
  • Participate in departmental meetings, contributing to discussions on curriculum development, research initiatives, and administrative tasks
  • Maintain a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices in environmental policy research and teaching

Requirements:

  • PhD in a field related to environmental policy or a closely aligned discipline; candidates near completion of their PhD may also be considered
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental policy research, with a clear understanding of Canadian contexts and policies
  • Ambitious research agenda focused on developing actionable solutions to environmental challenges
  • Proven ability to teach effectively, using engaging pedagogies to motivate students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity for teamwork and collaboration
