Job Summary

The Student Recruiter will play a key role in promoting Thompson Rivers University's academic programs to prospective students, school counsellors, and other stakeholders. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting visits to Canadian secondary schools, as well as attending education and career fairs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement an annual recruitment plan to meet enrollment goals, in consultation with the Manager, Academic Planning and Review.
  2. Conduct presentations and advising sessions with prospective students, school counsellors, and other stakeholders, providing information on academic programs, admission requirements, and university services.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with relevant on-campus and off-campus community networks, using various forms of media, including social media platforms.
  4. Collaborate with faculty and staff to plan and conduct on-campus recruitment and conversion events, including campus tours, enrolment workshops, and interactive online chats.
  5. Assist with updating recruitment materials and publications, collecting and reviewing data, writing communications, and developing presentations.
Requirements
  • A four-year baccalaureate degree.
  • One year of related experience in a post-secondary environment, with public speaking and/or group facilitation responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of university academic policies, admission requirements, and program information.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of various social media platforms, with content marketing and engagement skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Zoom, relational databases, and other computer software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with culturally diverse audiences, verbally and in writing.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's license with no restrictions.
Working Conditions
  • Extensive travel required within Canada, with a significant amount of time spent off-campus visiting schools and attending education and career fairs.
  • Standing for long periods of time on concrete floors during events.
  • Repetitive lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 kg.
  • Set up of computer/audiovisual equipment and tables and chairs at off-site locations.
  • Flexibility in work hours, with some evening and weekend work required.
