Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic food preparation functions, including portioning food accurately and in accordance with production orders.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Adhere to food handling methods according to established standards of sanitation, infection control, and safety.
  • May need to lift and carry heavy objects, and to withstand long periods of walking, standing, and frequent bending and twisting.
  • May need to steer and manipulate large and small food wagons through congested areas.
  • Serve clients in a courteous manner.
  • Collect and clean up dishes.
  • Perform food services duties as scheduled.
  • Perform basic food preparation functions.
  • Assemble meal trays and work on the belt line.
  • Serve assigned items attractively, accurately, and at the appropriate temperature specified and in accordance with portion size.
  • Communicate concerns regarding food service, safety, and equipment issues to the appropriate Food Services Supervisor.
  • Follow Kashruth dietary laws.
  • Participate actively in the department by attending departmental meetings, in-services, and quality management activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school completion or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year related experience in a food services environment, preferably an institutional setting.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly.
  • Food Handlers certificate is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse customer base.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
