Strategic Business Partner

The role of Business Partner requires collaboration with all levels of employees to support discussions and provide best practice knowledge in their field. This includes ensuring efficient and consistent compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements, Employment Agreements, policies, and legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with client groups on various HR processes such as job design, organizational structure, lines of sequence, etc.
- Provide coaching and guidance on matters related to conflict resolution, attendance management, goal setting, performance management, succession planning, talent management, organizational change, and discipline.
- Assist with contract negotiations by researching issues and providing relevant information and support throughout the process.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding efforts to source quality individuals to support Algoma's short, medium, and long-term needs.
- Lead/participate on special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- University degree or College diploma in HR or Business Administration OR equivalent work experience
- 3 years HR/LR experience in unionized environment is required
- HR/LR experience in a unionized industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred
- Knowledge of Labour/Employment legislation
- HR experience interpreting and advising on Collecting Bargaining Agreements
- Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated strong time management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of discretion
- Demonstrated experience with improving systems and processes
- Experience with MS Excel and PowerPoint, SAP
