Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with data engineers and data scientists to develop critical data assets for Portfolio Risk Oversight. The analyst will drive custom risk analytics and provide actionable insights to business partners using an open-source scalable platform for reporting, analytics, and data science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage portfolio data to prepare clear, concise, and insightful analysis on top/emerging risks and key trends within the BFS portfolio.
  • Participate in analytics design sessions, providing input, gathering, and documenting business requirements, and helping formulate an analytical framework to develop effective Risk Management reporting.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in all manner of business and risk data mining activities, including data analysis, aggregation, interpretation, and recommendation.
  • Investigate new industry-leading data tools and methods to be leveraged in data mining, analysis, and visualization.
  • Provide analytical support on ad-hoc requests originating from various stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science) to demonstrate capability for critical thinking and data analysis.
  • SQL programming and experience; expertise with MS Office Suite knowledge and working experience with RBDM and visualization using tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong data manipulation capability using financial formulas and SQL.
  • Strong business and data acumen.
  • Effective and equally conversant in translating technical expertise into business language that drives insight.
Additional Information

This is a 4-month student placement with a start date of January 2025 and an end date of April 2025. To be eligible for this position, you must either be returning to school after the work term end-date of April 2025 or be graduating in April 2025 and require the full 4-month work term as a mandatory component to graduate successfully.

RBC is committed to supporting flexible work arrangements when and where available. The successful candidate for this role will be required to be located within Ontario for the duration of the work term.
