R&D Innovation Specialist

The Opportunity:
Under the guidance of the R&D/QC lab supervisor, the R&D Engineer/Chemist will work on various tasks involving research and development for various projects, as well as support the team with quality control testing and procedures for all products produced in the plant.
Responsibilities:
- Develop tests to verify product compliance and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-compliance related to product formulations.
- Collaborate with the R&D/QC lab supervisor and other R&D personnel to write and review R&D formulations, track compiled results, and review product manufacturing procedures.
- Supervise and/or perform research steps for various chemicals.
- Complete and process relevant forms related to tasks.
- Perform all other related tasks in accordance with Sika Canada Inc. quality assurance procedures.
- Complete and revise Safety Data Sheets (SDS), pass information to Production Coordinator to complete safety labels.
- Implement environmental management program procedures applicable to the business area.

Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemistry or Engineering (Chemical/Materials/Civil).
- Work experience in research and quality control preferably in a related field.
- Fluent in English; oral and written. Bilingual English/French considered an asset.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Skills to design and implement solutions for problem-solving.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Work in a laboratory, dry and/or humid environment.
- Must be able to occasionally lift loads of up to 30 kg.
- Handling various chemicals, personal protective equipment is required.
