Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Supervisor to join our team at Shermco. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring other technicians, working in the field as a technician, and performing a variety of electrical testing and maintenance tasks.




  • Supervise and Mentor: Supervise and mentor other technicians and help grow the office. Provide guidance and support to ensure the team is equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Field Work: Work in the field as a technician performing electrical testing, repair, and maintenance. Conduct inspections, test and troubleshoot electrical systems, and perform start-up and data collection.
  • Electrical Testing: Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems, including low, medium, and high voltage systems. Perform relay calibration and power metering, including power transformer testing, cable testing, and automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance and repair work on substation equipment, including circuit breakers, brushes, and commutators. Schedule and supervise the construction and testing of special devices and the implementation of unique monitoring and control systems.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test data to diagnose malfunctions, determine performance characteristics of systems, and evaluate effects of system notifications.
  • Travel and On-Call Duty: Frequently travel to and perform field work at customer sites. Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.


Qualifications:


  • Education and Experience: Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, degree in Electrical Engineering, PSE designation, or Red Seal Journeyman Electrician. 8+ years of relevant power systems testing and maintenance experience.
  • Supervisory Skills: Supervisory skills and experience desired. NETA Certification or equivalent skills/experience to become NETA Certified.
  • Training and Certifications: Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training. Training on each can be provided by Shermco.
  • Relocation and Safety: Must be willing to relocate to Vancouver for the period of time this position requires. Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license and be able to maintain a clean abstract.
