Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our community engagement team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating volunteers for multiple programs simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for volunteer management.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and manage the departmental budget.
  • Liaise with educational institutions and volunteer bureaus to promote volunteerism.
  • Match volunteer skills with work needs and prepare task lists for guidance.
  • Recruit, orientate, train, evaluate, recognize, and assign work for volunteers.
  • Provide a positive spiritual witness to volunteers and program participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and other relevant data.
  • Develop and review the volunteer handbook.
  • Assist with special events and outings as needed.
Requirements
  • Two or more years of community college in a related field.
  • Certificate in volunteer administration an asset.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Proof of Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain.
  • Abuse prevention course through The Salvation Army.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience.
  • Experience in building digital communication an asset.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Understand and support the mission, values, and policies of The Salvation Army in Canada.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
