Health Information Specialist

We are seeking a skilled epidemiologist to join our team at the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation, Inc. as a Health Information Specialist for Indigenous Communities.
About UsThe Thunderbird Partnership Foundation, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting First Nations communities in mental wellness. With offices located in southwestern Ontario and London, Ontario, we work closely with First Nations communities and regional stakeholders to address health information requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop research priorities that support Indigenous Ways of Knowing and provide culturally safe epidemiology services.
- Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data, providing recommendations and writing reports for communities and stakeholders, as well as grant writing and academic peer review.
- Work on multiple concurrent project activities and establish strong working relationships with community and regional stakeholders.
- Conduct epidemiologic research to meet health information requirements for stakeholders and ongoing reporting obligations.
- A Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, health, or a related discipline with either a thesis or keystone project.
- Two years of related research and/or community development experience preferably with a First Nations community setting.
- Proficient in statistical software packages including SPSS, STATA, or R.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations and regulatory trends in epidemiology, public health, and surveillance.
- Advanced knowledge of the social determinants of health.
- Experience in medical geography and familiarity with mapping and spatial regression analyses is an asset.
- Holds Tri council policy on ethics certification.
- Knowledge of protocols and ethical research practices relating to First Nations, Inuit, and Metis populations - OCAP.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
- An estimated salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
