About the Company

Forge Recruitment is partnering with a regional multi-service firm in downtown Toronto to find a Regulatory Law Clerk to support the professionals in the Regulatory Law Practice Group. This role involves working primarily in administrative and public law litigation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the Regulatory Law Practice Group and its professionals in the following ways:

  • Review client documents and prepare affidavits of documents/disclosure briefs
  • Prepare agreements and other legal documents under direction, often from precedents
  • Prepare hearing and appeal/judicial review materials in accordance with the various Rules of Procedure and Practice Directions (Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court of Appeal for Ontario, Supreme Court of Canada, and various quasi-judicial forums)
  • Trial preparation, including preparing document briefs and compendiums
  • Assisting in the preparation of both lawyers and clients for examinations and hearings
  • Scheduling examinations for discovery and preparing notices of examination
  • Reviewing and summarizing transcripts of examinations and preparing undertakings charts, refusals, etc.
  • Preparing charts, chronologies and summaries of document evidence for use in hearings
  • Preparing correspondence
  • Acting as commissioner to take oaths
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial litigation or regulatory law
  • Post-secondary education with a Law Clerk designation
  • Excellent time management, communication, and writing skills
  • Knowledge of E-Discovery
