Algonquin College is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Associate Chair, Algonquin Centre Construction Excellence.

The estimated salary for this role is $94,720.00 - $120,353.00 per annum, based on the provided information.

About the Role

This is a full-time administrative position that reports directly to the Dean. As an Associate Chair, you will be responsible for providing management functions in support of the Chairs of the Academic Departments within the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE).

Your key responsibilities will include investigating student complaints, reviewing academic appeals, monitoring academic dishonesty cases, facilitating grade review processes, and managing probationary students and those on academic contracts.

You will also work closely with the Academic Integrity Office, enhance the student experience, onboard other-than-full-time faculty, chair Program Councils, and facilitate student retention initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with students to resolve issues and improve their experience.
  2. Enhance the performance development and enhancement of the other-than-full-time professor/instructor/technician/technologist pool.
  3. Provide academic leadership, including managing a staff complement of two (Student Success Specialist; Administrative Assistant).
  4. Participate in program evaluation, marketing promotions, and continuous improvement of the student experience.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a four-year degree related to management, education, social sciences, or a related construction field.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in increasingly responsible roles.
  • Experience meeting, listening, and talking one-on-one with people.
  • Experience dealing with difficult situations.
  • Experience delivering formal presentations to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to teaching excellence and quality education from a student perspective.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in curriculum development, teaching/instruction, and preparation of teaching materials would be an asset.
  • Experience dealing with student situations would be an asset.
  • Construction background or experience in a subject area would be an asset.
