About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting the pre and post-analytical phases of testing.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will work under the direction of management, collaborating with laboratory staff to ensure efficient specimen procurement, data entry, media preparation, and sterilization. Your duties may also include supply management, troubleshooting, and customer service activities.

You will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and/or holidays, and may be assigned to work off-site at various locations. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and manual dexterity are essential for this role.

About You
  • A recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent is required.
  • You must have successfully completed the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science examinations and hold current registration with CSMLS.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Meditech, are preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation is necessary for travel to various sites.
Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $23.19-$26.27, depending on experience. In addition to salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, and access to professional development opportunities.
