Cuso International seeks a highly skilled Machinist Engineer Advisor to join our team in Iringa, Tanzania.



Job Summary


The Machinist Engineer Advisor will provide technical expertise and guidance in the field of machining and engineering, specifically focusing on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. The successful candidate will enhance the capacity of local technicians and workers, ensuring they can effectively operate and maintain CNC machines.



Main Responsibilities



  1. Conduct feasibility studies and determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  2. Measure, mark, and describe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
  3. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
  4. Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
  5. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  6. Verify conformance of the finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
  7. Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  8. Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
  9. Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to a like-new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
  11. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that you get along with customers, clients, coworkers and management.
  12. Continue to grow, learn knowledge, and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will require:



  1. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Machinist, Auto mechanical or related field.
  2. At least 3-8 years of experience in CNC Lathe Machine, CNC Vertical Milling Machine and CNC Plasma Cutter.
  3. Competent in CNC Lathe and Milling Machines.
  4. Facilitation and training skills; experience in development and delivering workshops.
  5. Program delivery experience at a managerial level.
  6. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite program.
  7. Competent in software such as AUTO CAD & SOLID WORKS.
  8. Experience in project management delivery.
