Job OpportunitySenior Heavy Civil Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Heavy Civil Estimator to join our dynamic team based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). As a key member, you will contribute to our success by providing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil projects.

The ideal candidate should possess 3+ years of experience in estimating heavy civil construction projects, with a strong understanding of construction drawings and contract documents. You will work closely with the estimating team to ensure timely completion of estimates while maintaining a high level of quality.

A competitive salary of $95,000 is offered for this role, reflecting the industry standard for Senior Heavy Civil Estimators in the GTA area. Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and coordinate sub-trade selection and pricing for various scope items using first principles.
  • Maintain up-to-date databases of contacts and construction costs to support informed decision-making.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the estimating function at Amico Affiliates.
  • Assist the estimating team and support staff as needed to ensure estimates are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Support site teams in preparing contract change orders and maintain high-quality service standards.
  • Ensure that sub-trades and suppliers meet economic targets and quality standards upon successful project award.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years of prior experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex construction concepts through proposal wording.
  • Familiarity with standard project management software, including Word, Excel, Access, MS Project, and estimating tools.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure, adapting to flexible work schedules when required.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the GTA area and occasionally beyond.
  • Experience in cost tracking, managing, and directing construction projects is an asset.
  • Knowledge of contract language and terms is also beneficial.
