Overview

Magna, a leading automotive supplier, is seeking an Automotive Technology Development Specialist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in developing innovative technologies that shape the future of mobility.

About the Role

This position involves leading and/or supporting R&D projects and prototyping programs within Promatek or working closely with Cosma divisions. You will design components and systems that meet customer performance, cost, mass, quality, and timeliness objectives to maximize customer value and vehicle function. Your responsibilities will include providing ongoing support to internal and external customers by completing progress reports and preparing presentations to discuss project timing, scope, technological findings, and design changes.

You will also report lessons learned during project execution and apply them to future projects. Driving continuous improvement and optimizing process and sub-processes are essential aspects of this role.

This position requires a strong understanding of product development and innovation skills, including PLM, GD&T, VA/VE, and FMEA. Experience with controls systems (PLCs, networking, robotics, etc.) and programming and software development are assets. Familiarity with automotive quality requirements (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC) is preferred.

Requirements
  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with a specialization in joining and welding or related field required.
  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of related experience required; five to seven (5-7) years of related experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and determination attributes.

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
