We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Public Works Department.


The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the City's heavy truck, stationary engine, and equipment fleet. They will also be required to service and repair small gasoline and diesel equipment.


We are looking for a Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician Certificate holder with a minimum of five years' experience in the trade. A valid NWT Class 5 driver's license is also required.

Independent judgment and the ability to use oxy-acetylene and arc welding equipment, including mig welders, are required for this role. On-call rotation may also be necessary.


The City of Yellowknife offers a competitive salary range of $100,082 - $117,743, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances, and a defined benefit pension plan.
