Job Summary

A talented and experienced Healthcare Transformation Specialist is required to join our Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT) at the Alberta Medical Association. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with ACTT Directors and the Executive Vice President, Health System Transformation to execute ACTT's mandate in alignment with AMA's vision and mission.

About the Role

This Senior Consultant position requires an individual who has demonstrated understanding of the Alberta healthcare system and the needs of physicians in practice and leadership roles. You will provide operational leadership of a business unit and/or key projects within ACTT, including:

  • Leading and supporting a team; including full people management responsibilities and fostering a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Working closely with directors and other leaders to translate strategy into operational execution so physician members and grant funders enjoy the benefits of ACTT's products and services.
  • Managing and being accountable for resources and outcomes of a business unit, including reporting and documentation of goals and progress.
  • Planning, organizing and supporting the work of provincial multi-stakeholder committees and/or working groups.
  • Liaising and building rapport with key leaders and stakeholders to support AMA-ACTT initiatives.
  • Building capacity to support the ongoing development and expansion of networks of practice.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An undergraduate degree in healthcare, health sciences, business or a related area; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with physicians and healthcare teams, preferably in primary care and/or specialty care environments; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • People leadership experience including performance development/management, team building, and task planning/delegation.
  • Experience in change management delivery in healthcare.
  • Experience in project management is required; a PMP designation is an asset.

  • Well-developed problem-solving skills conducive to achieving consensus and maximizing opportunities for win-win outcomes.
  • Ability to develop guiding principles and frameworks including the ability to develop options and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex change which includes high flexibility as the direction of leaders and the system changes.
  • Understanding and working within resource limitations and balancing competing priorities.
  • Possess exceptional project management skills; including communication, leadership, organization and resource and time management.
  • Strong 'participative leadership' skills, including the ability to influence and persuade individuals and groups, by creating buy-in and cooperation.
  • Clear understanding of governance at the AMA and the healthcare system.

Salary Range: $124,270 - $161,553 per annum
