Description:

We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team at Ortec Group in Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the application of current OHS regulations, procedures, and work instructions on work sites and business units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Regular field visits to business units and various work sites (70% of working time in the field)
  • Participating in and ensuring the application of current OHS regulations, procedures, and work instructions on work sites and business units
  • Assisting staff in identifying existing or potential risks and helping them implement preventive or corrective measures/actions and OHS indicators
  • Participating in investigations and detailed analyses of events, inspections, and audits

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant discipline (OHS, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, etc.) and at least 3 years' experience in prevention and field intervention in a unionized industrial environment.

Key qualifications include:

  • A sound knowledge of current health and safety legislation and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Dynamism, autonomy, perseverance, and a keen sense of organization
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly on site
