Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team at Marmon Rail Group. As a key member of our payroll team, you will be responsible for managing full-cycle payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian Payroll regulations.
About the Role
- Process weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for employees across multiple provinces, utilizing ADP Workforce Now and Workday systems.
- Coordinate with repair shops, onsite locations, mobile units, and corporate departments to ensure completion of new hire and termination procedures.
- Stay current with federal and provincial payroll legislation and regulations, ensuring compliance and recommending process improvements.
- Analyze and recommend changes to payroll processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage special projects and support other process automation initiatives, as directed by the Payroll Manager.
- Provide information and answer employee questions regarding payroll-related matters, including conducting lunch and learn sessions.
- Ensure timely escalation and resolution of payroll issues.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries regarding paychecks and payroll reporting.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of Canadian payroll experience, preferably in a multi-location and union environment.
- Payroll Compliance and Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset.
- Strong understanding of G/L accounts and debit/credit principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate-to-high level expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Passion for payroll, collaboration, learning, process improvement, and technology.
- Enthusiasm for helping others.

Compensation Package
The estimated salary range for this role is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
