Data Specialist Job Description

About the Role



We are seeking a highly skilled Data Specialist to join our team at GTT, LLC. As a Data Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making within our organization. You will leverage your expertise in data analysis, modeling, and management to deliver valuable insights and support strategic initiatives.



Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Modeling

Develop and implement robust data models and perform in-depth analysis using SQL and other relevant tools. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop effective solutions.



Data Quality and Governance

Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency by implementing effective data quality measures and governance frameworks. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.



Business Intelligence and Reporting

Create comprehensive BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide actionable insights to stakeholders. This will involve working closely with business users to understand their reporting needs and develop effective solutions.



ETL and Data Integration

Design and execute ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse. This will involve working closely with data engineers to design and implement ETL processes and ensuring data quality and integrity.



Metadata Management

Maintain and enrich metadata to improve data discoverability and understanding. This will involve working closely with data analysts to develop and implement metadata management processes and ensuring data quality and integrity.



Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This will involve working closely with technical stakeholders to identify business needs and develop effective solutions.



Qualifications

Experience

7+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, or a related field. Experience in the financial industry or a regulated environment is a plus.



Technical Skills

Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, ETL tools, and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI). Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R is a plus.



Data Governance

Understanding of data governance principles and best practices. Experience with data governance frameworks and tools is a plus.



Problem-Solving

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.



Communication

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
