Overview

The Screed Operator is responsible for the operation of the screed, which is on the rear of the paving machine. This position is responsible for setting the depth and width of the asphalt as it is laid by the paving machine. Ensuring the ride-ability of the finished product is a critical aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Setting the depth and width of the asphalt to exact specifications is a critical part of the road building process.
  • Shoveling asphalt into holes in the surface and/or areas where the paving machine cannot access is a key responsibility.
  • Providing excellent internal customer service and exceeding expectations is essential.
  • FOLLOWING ALL SAFETY, COMPLIANCE, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS IN ALIGNMENT WITH COMPANY STANDARDS IS MANDATORY.
  • Performing related work as assigned and maintaining a high degree of quality of work is expected.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a paving screed operator is required.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of quality of work are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, and in all-weather conditions as required throughout the paving season is necessary.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with the crew is critical.
