Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for operating a 308 Cat Excavator safely and efficiently, ensuring timely project completion while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy mobile equipment, such as excavators, safely and efficiently under various working conditions.
  • Understand and promote all aspects of company safety programs and initiatives, including Goal Zero.
  • Comply with legislated environmental, health, and safety regulations, laws, and codes.
  • Be responsible for safe execution of tasks, reporting any problems or hazards directly to the onsite supervisor or superintendent.
  • Follow direction of supervisor or superintendent regarding daily tasks and expectations.
  • Participate positively in the Goal Zero Initiative, adhering to Defined Activities for your position.
  • Responsible for equipment checks, informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical issues.
  • Perform groundwork or Labourer tasks as required.
  • Assist in training less experienced employees on equipment operations and servicing.
  • Communicate professionally and diplomatically with colleagues, supervisors, customers, and visitors at all times.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience operating a construction-grade excavator.
  • Experience in the roadbuilding industry considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to meet all safety requirements and applicable policies.
  • Able to perform physical/manual labor for extended periods.
