Overview

Regional Development Officer Job Summary

Imagine a place where who you are, where you're from, or the circumstances that surround you don't determine your access to experiences or opportunities. Now imagine a mission created to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America is making that vision a reality — in your community and communities around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Revenue Growth: Manage a Regional Trustee and Ambassador Board to meet ambitious 'give/get' revenue goals. You will have a personal multi-million-dollar fundraising target each year, working to secure annual gifts while establishing a pipeline for future growth.
  • Strategic Recruitment: Establish a focused and systematic approach to engage high net-worth individuals capable of making major gifts. Your goal is to meet Trustee and Ambassador growth targets annually by identifying and developing major gift prospects through face-to-face visits, virtual meetings, and peer-led conversations.
  • Engage and Cultivate Relationships: Develop and execute engagement, cultivation, and stewarding plans for individuals, corporations, and Trustees within your defined territory. Your ability to build relationships that connect personally to the mission will be key.
  • Lead Regional Collaboration: Serve as a leader in regional fundraising efforts, fostering communication, collaboration, and excellence among fundraisers across different Lines of Business. You will also manage and execute regular regional meetings with various stakeholders to ensure shared goals and communication.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee a portfolio of approximately 100 qualified relationships, including current and prospective Trustees/Ambassadors, Lifetime Trustees, and select Board of Governors members, ensuring strategic engagement and successful fundraising outcomes.
  • Mission-Driven Leadership: Demonstrate and integrate Boys & Girls Clubs of America's mission-driven I*Care Values into all aspects of your work, fostering an environment that reflects our core beliefs.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree is required, with an MBA and CFRE preferred.
  • You bring a minimum of ten years of successful front-line major gifts fundraising experience, including Board fundraising engagement.
  • You have an impressive track record with major gift solicitations of $100,000 and above, managing a portfolio of 100-200 relationships with annual goal achievement and year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Proven Success: Your experience working collaboratively as part of a nationally deployed team in a federated structure, coupled with your proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and a Blackbaud database environment, positions you to thrive in this role.
  • Confidence and Humility: You need to be able to 'sit at the table' with CEOs of national companies, exuding confidence without intimidation and humility that allows others to shine.
  • High Responsiveness and Persistence: You have a high response time and speed, essential for engaging busy CEOs and their assistants.

About the Resource Development Team

The Resource Development Team is responsible for connecting the BGCA Mission to individuals and foundations that want to create change in the world by ensuring all youth can meet their full potential. We are the connectors and conduits that help people who want to make a difference understand the challenges youth face and help them find ways to make a difference through investment, volunteering, advocacy, and thought leadership.

We raise funds and connect national leaders to the mission, which results in funding BGCA efforts around key priorities like a national virtual program platform, a unified data management system, staff training, direct cash pass-through, and advocacy for our Clubs and youth across the country.

We create impact and value by ensuring both youth concerns and needs are shared and by being donor-centered in our accountability, efforts, and execution. We create a culture of philanthropy within ABCs, Clubs throughout the movement, and with our investors.
