Job Title: Designer (Electrical)

Reporting to the Manager, Design Office, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing design expertise in support of our sterilization brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts, detailed electrical layout drawings, electrical schematics and models of considerable complexity using specifications, calculations and vendor data.
  • Preparation of final design layouts and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure technical quality and accuracy of project work.
  • Monitor adherence to approved standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare work estimates and participate in planning activities and progress meetings as required.
  • Monitor design/drafting project hours with respect to overall objectives.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, purchasing, production, and other teams to ensure design work meets requirements.
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to product designs and design/drafting processes.
  • Assist with prototyping and assembly activities and advise on corrective action to resolve design problems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Technologist Diploma (3 years) in electrical or other appropriate technology plus 6-8 years directly related experience.
  • Three (3) or more years experience in use of SolidWorks Electrical schematic and 3D computer aided design tool.
  • Three (3) or more years experience in use of AutoCAD Electrical as 2D computer aided design tool.
  • Knowledge of Basic SQL programming would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in use of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Autodesk Vault PDM and configuration management concepts.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with CE mark requirements, Canadian Electrical Code and UL standards.
  • Knowledge of CSA, ANSI & IEC drawing standards.

Additional experience in any of the following areas would be considered a valuable asset:

  • SolidWorks systems administration (network licensing and application deployment).
  • Product Data Management (PDM) systems expertise.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell PowerFlex 525 and GuardLogix products.

Additional Requirements:

Overtime and Shift work as required.

Training Required: Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
