Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Facilities Services Clerk to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Facilities department, including receiving work requests, dispatching maintenance personnel, and maintaining filing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and process work requests and facilities problems from various sources, determining priority and processing requests in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Dispatch maintenance personnel and contractors for work and to arrange for emergency services.
  • Maintain a work control system by performing electronic data entry and generating documents, including work orders, trouble calls, and preventative maintenance forms.
  • Maintain filing systems and records, compiling statistical reports on outstanding work orders and hours of labor usage.
  • Contact contractors and staff to investigate outstanding work orders and close work orders as required.
  • Perform receptionist functions, including receiving visitors, answering the telephone, and providing information and directing to the appropriate area.
  • Provide secretarial support, including typing correspondence and documents.
  • Maintain and assign the Student Locker System.
  • Perform cashier duties, including receiving payments from customers and maintaining daily cash float balance and summarizing daily cash and debit sales.
  • Train general office overload and relief personnel.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 plus six months' post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Two years' related experience, including one year's experience with electronic word processing and data entry.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to perform electronic word processing at 60 wpm and data entry.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others, including students, staff, and members of the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, such as a photocopier, 2-way radio, and pager system.
Working Conditions
  • Working at a computer and desk for long periods of time, with some front counter work and general office conditions.

The salary for this position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
