Job Summary

The Medical Secretary is a key member of the Respirology Program team at Mount Sinai Hospital. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to manage the day-to-day administrative activities of the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support services, including patient registration, scheduling, and coordination of appointments, tests, and procedures.
  • Obtain laboratory and diagnostic test results and ensure records are up-to-date.
  • Maintain accurate and efficient office and hospital records systems, including electronic and paper formats.
  • Direct telephone calls and inquiries from patients, families, hospital management, and medical staff.
  • Update physician calendars and ensure patient charts are up-to-date and organized.
  • Screen and prioritize incoming mail, faxes, test results, and emails for action.
  • Process OHIP and third-party billings accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform general office duties, including ordering supplies and maintaining office equipment.

Requirements

  • Medical Secretary or Office Administration diploma or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of Accuro.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent secretarial experience in a clinic or health environment.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and dictation.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.
