Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tax Consultant to lead our tax team for a 3-month contract position. The ideal candidate will have expertise in corporate and indirect tax responsibilities, including Canadian income tax and information returns, GST, provincial sales tax, and U.S. sales tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation of Canadian income tax and information returns, ensuring compliance with indirect tax obligations across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, including coordination with external auditors.
  • Review GST, provincial sales tax, and U.S. sales tax returns, ensuring accurate and timely filing of all income tax and other tax-related returns.
  • Lead the resolution of tax audits, including responding to audit queries, reviewing proposed assessments, preparing objections/appeals, addressing disputes, and implementing corrective actions.
Tax Planning & Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical research and provide recommendations on complex tax issues and strategic planning, including corporate restructuring.
  • Perform due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Foster relationships across the organization to ensure alignment, collaboration, and engagement in tax matters.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and supply documentation for U.S. federal tax returns.
  • Address tax-related inquiries from business units to support operational needs.
Compensation & Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000 per annum, depending on experience. Vaco offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
