About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Design Manager with a strong background in Mechanical and Physical Engineering to join our team in Montreal. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators to ensure performance.
  • Support business development for aerospace in North America.
  • Lead candidate selection and interview process, working with Talent Acquisition to forecast hiring needs.
  • Identify business and market trends, implementing action plans to increase profits and performance.
  • Scale team size according to workload, providing employee transitions to new emerging roles.
  • Develop team efficiency, implementing improvements to increase company contribution margins.
  • Identify or support creation of learning paths related to new or important technologies, tools, and methods for the team.
  • Lead workload for on-site and offshore team members, ensuring multidisciplinary resources are well aligned to enhance delivery of projects.
  • Support purchase orders with current and new clients.
  • Handle, track, and bill all deliverables for the design/integration team.
  • Provide coaching, goal setting with employees, and initiate proactive employee project transitions.
  • Maintain relationships between clients, identifying opportunities to grow Capgemini's portfolio.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed design for details, assemblies, kits, installations, NIEOs, WPICD, PVRs, etc.
  • Collaborate with different functions, such as harness manufacturers, aircraft interiors, methods, stress, systems, and support functions like mass properties and M&P.
  • Client interface and single point of contact for ongoing and new technical work.
  • Review systems layouts, installations, assemblies, and detail drawings.
  • Investigate change authorities, such as RFCs and PCRs.
  • Lead design changes through all organizational change cycles.
  • Provide technical solutions to resolve design or manufacturing issues.
  • Generate and implement cost and weight-saving design change ideas.
  • Support other engineering and operations departments directly.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in Airframe Design/System installation.
  • Knowledge of Composites and Tubing: Metallic and Composite.
  • Strong PLM (CATIA V5, ENOVIA) knowledge background, including the CATIA Composite Module.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aerospace practices, standards, tools, and processes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Experience using Datalink or BDI, ICMS.
