Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transportation Specialist to join our team at 2284439 Ontario inc. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer and transporting goods and materials across various routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Operations: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Route Planning: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Cargo Management: Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, as well as recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, performing brake adjustments, emergency roadside repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Communication: Receive and relay information to central dispatch, as well as address customers' complaints or concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, and cargo information, including accident or incident reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: Will train.
  • Certifications: Air Brakes Endorsement, Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding, handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks, sitting, and attention to detail.
  • Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, organized, reliability, team player, and hardworking.
Work Environment

This is a permanent position with a variable schedule, requiring 32 to 44 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and safety.
