The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nursing Professional to join our dynamic Surgical In-Patient Unit team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care and collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional outcomes.

This 20-bed unit offers a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, making it an ideal opportunity for nursing professionals looking to grow and develop their skills. You will work collaboratively with registered nurses and other healthcare providers to deliver quality care to patients requiring surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care at full scope of practice, independently managing less complex cases with predictable outcomes
  • Collaborate with registered nurses in situations beyond your scope of practice, ensuring seamless patient care
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans, incorporating assessment data and evidence-based practices
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, treatments, and progress
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, enabling practice at full scope
  • At least one year of recent acute surgical experience within the past two years, with a strong preference for those with more extensive experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with wound care proficiency and medication administration skills highly desirable
  • Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with industry best practices
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
