Job Description
The Tax Compliance Expert will be responsible for preparing or reviewing tax provisions, preparing Canadian tax returns (T2) and underlying forms (T106, T1134, NR4 etc.), and preparing journal entries regarding book-to-tax adjustments, tax payments, and refunds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare or review tax provisions to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations;
- Prepare Canadian tax returns (T2) and underlying forms (T106, T1134, NR4 etc.) within specified deadlines;
- Prepare journal entries regarding book-to-tax adjustments, tax payments, and refunds to maintain financial records;
- Monitor tax filings by companies and ensure that tax assessments have been analyzed and registered in the books;
- Participate in the consolidated tax provision to perform analyzes of different components impacting the tax expense and tax accounts;
- Support the team for tax audits affecting the company (corporate tax) by preparing the analysis required for government audits and preparing audit summaries and their impact;
- Monitor applicable tax laws and regulations changes affecting CAE entities;
- Perform research and analysis regarding various files, special projects, and uncertain tax positions to minimize tax risks;
- Participate and contribute to internal technical knowledge sessions regarding various accounting and tax subjects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have a University Degree in Accounting, a minimum of 3-4 years experience in corporate taxation and tax accounting, and an accounting designation. A Master's degree in taxation or specialized taxation course from the CICA is an asset. Knowledge of Oracle and HFM is also an asset.
