Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced administrative professionals to work in a dynamic environment, providing short-term coverage in various departments. As a member of the clerical pool, you will have the chance to branch out and work in short-term placements, ranging from on-call to full-time positions.

Your primary responsibilities may include:

  • Front-line customer service
  • Filing and data entry
  • Typing and responding to inquiries
  • Maintaining manual and computer files and reports
  • Performing additional projects and assignments as required

Placements may vary in duration, with breaks between assignments, and hours are not guaranteed. However, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong communication skills and a drive to provide exemplary customer service. You should also display sound judgment and be proactive, comfortable working with minimal supervision.

A minimum of three years of administrative and customer service experience, along with completion of grade 12 education, are required. Additional skills and qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Accurate typing and data entry speed
  • Formal training and experience using Microsoft Office suite products
  • Previous experience with a centralized electronic document management system, such as Tempest or Maximo, would be considered an asset

You must be available to provide auxiliary coverage during City Hall business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Compensation

The City of Coquitlam offers a competitive hourly rate, ranging from $22.12 to $29.13 per hour, plus an additional 12% in lieu of benefits. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended; however, it may be reinstated in the future.
