Your Opportunity:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Unit 35 (Rehabilitation) and the Area Manager Allied Health Red Deer Regional Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of adult clients with swallowing and communication difficulties in two clinical settings: Unit 35 Inpatient Rehabilitation (3 days per week) and Rural Communities (1 – 2 communities served 2 days per week).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners.
  • Responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners.
  • Supervise students and provide clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate.
  • Use clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.
Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in clinical and instrumental (VFSS) swallowing assessment and treatment. Experience in the assessment and treatment of adult clients experiencing acquired communication impairments. Experience with stroke/neurology. Experience working in rehabilitation preferred.
