Job Summary

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have/be:

  • A post-secondary education or equivalent degree, diploma, or certificate in engineering or quality.
  • A working background in the plastics industry is desirable.
  • Able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing systems, as they relate to quality is an asset.
  • A self-starter and able to work in an extremely fast-paced team environment.
Key Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the QAM in developing, updating, and implementing work instructions and packaging specifications for various products.
  • Maintaining the Document Control Program for the whole site.
  • Developing and training on Open Point Lesson (OPL), and QA Alerts for the Production floor and site whenever the situation requires.
  • Preparing daily/weekly Quality reports for the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Monitoring & collecting information, data, statistics for month-end reports for the QAM.
  • Supporting the General Manager and the QAM to enforce new quality goals (KPI's) based on product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Developing inspection logs for new and existing products.
  • Reviewing completed quality inspections logs and communicating issues or concerns.
  • Conducting inspections on customer returns and identifying quality issues and recommending solutions.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and customers to resolve quality issues.
  • Keeping track of quality issues and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Developing and overseeing product testing methods for new and existing products at different stages of production.
  • Organizing quality testing studies and using statistical methods (SPC) to analyze data and identify irregularities.
  • Analyzing dimensional layouts and making improvements where required as per customer requirements.
  • Investigating all non-conformity reports (NCR) and issuing quality as needed.
  • Creating and submitting Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) & First Article Inspection Review (FAIR) to the customer, as required.
  • Coordinating internal audits to ensure consistency in company practices.
  • Conducting monthly GMP's, 9001:2015, and any other customer-related audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Generating findings/CAR for Dept. Managers to address and be in compliance with the given standards.
  • Organizing audits on suppliers using various assessment strategies.
  • Training production staff and quality assurance technicians on quality standards and procedures.
  • Developing, maintaining, and filing quality documentation including quality alerts, testing results, and corrective actions.
  • Overseeing and maintaining the Calibration Program for the site and reporting any issues to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • In absence of the QAM, attending various quality-related inter-departmental meetings.
