Psychiatrist - BHSS ACTT/EPI

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our Assertive Community Treatment team (ACTT) and Early Psychosis Intervention team (EPI) for a one-year contract. As part of the ACTT and EPI Team, the Psychiatrist will provide consultation to the multi-disciplinary team, attend weekly clinics, and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans.
The Psychiatrist will provide up to 22.5 hours of service per week, inclusive of 15 hours of clinic time seeing clients directly and billing OHIP, and 7.5 hours of consultation and team meetings, that will be paid at a separate rate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Attend the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT)/Early Psychosis Intervention Program (EPI) clinics.
- Attend client visitation clinics two days per week and one day per week of team consultation and team meetings.
- Develop an interdisciplinary treatment plan in collaboration with client, family, and treatment team members; monitor and revise plan as appropriate during the course of the treatment plan.
- Provide clinical supervision to the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide timely clinical notes for all consultation and follow-up sessions.
- Maintain communication with the multidisciplinary team between site visits on issues requiring attention that is more urgent.
- Practice within established guidelines and standards for ACTT and EPI as evidenced within the Canadian Psychiatric Association (CPA) guidelines and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) standards for ACTT and EPI.
- Stay current on relevant legislation and best practices, current research, policies, and procedures.
- Proficient with the use of various software applications and data entry.
Requirements:
- A Medical Degree (M.D.) and Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCP).
- Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is required, along with membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent malpractice coverage.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
- Experience working with culturally diverse and marginalized populations.
- Commitment to patient-centered care.
- A demonstrated ability to apply the cultural formulation to assessment and diagnosis.
- Experience working with individuals from Black, African and Caribbean communities, their families, and the challenges faced by these communities.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to effectively work with Black, African and Caribbean communities.
- Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team and evidence of an understanding of the importance of partnerships and collaboration.
- Strong understanding of the current and historical health inequities experienced by Black, African and Caribbean communities.
- Demonstrated and practical understanding of anti-Black racism and intersectionality, and various barriers which affect diverse identities.
- Intersectional understanding of current social realities and barriers experienced by BAC communities, from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, feminist, self-aware and trauma-informed approach to practice is mandatory.
- Knowledge of local cultural programs and services to refer individuals and families from Black, African and Caribbean communities within the service catchment area.
- Knowledgeable in a variety of evidence-informed treatment modalities including anti-Black racism, anti-oppression and other culturally sensitive approaches to intervention.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse groups as well as an understanding of social determinants of health and impact on vulnerable communities.
- Skilled at engaging in matters that require sensitivity and empathy across a diverse community, excellent judgment, and discretion; ability to operate in a culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive framework.
- Working knowledge and/or an understanding of various disciplines; including but not exclusive of mental health, substance abuse, harm reduction, newcomer challenges and barriers faced by those in marginalized populations.
- Fluency in a language reflecting the diversity of the Peel-Dufferin region, including French, is a definite asset.
- Valid driver's license, automobile in good repair and insurance coverage as required by organizational policy.
- Satisfactory police records search and vulnerable sector screening.
- Required immunization(s) and/or administered vaccine(s) as per CMHA Peel Dufferin's Immunization Program Policy.
