We are seeking an experienced Construction Director to join our team in Vancouver, BC. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead major infrastructure projects and contribute to the company's growth.

About the Role:
  • Project Development:
    • Collaborate with project teams to secure new work through bidding and proposal processes.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee delivery against budget, schedule, and quality targets.
    • Safety: Establish safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Schedule: Develop and monitor project schedules to meet deadlines.
    • Quality: Ensure key metrics and KPIs are established and targets are consistently met.
    • Responsible for all aspects of project close-out.
  • Commercial Management:
    • Ensure JV interests are protected under the Prime Contract.
    • Implement efficient change order processing procedures.
    • Manage financial and cash flow activities.
    • Identify risks and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
    • Evaluate project commercial performance.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Maintain excellent relationships with clients, architects, engineers, joint venture partners, and government/public interest groups.
  • People Management:
    • Cultivate a positive and respectful work culture.
    • Hire, supervise, coach, and mentor project personnel.
    • Ensure project capacity and capability in engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
    • Communicate with senior management to secure adequate resources.
    • Develop succession plans for project personnel.
  • Communication:
    • Foster engagement through regular communication with staff and stakeholders.
    • Provide required project reporting and forecasting.
  • Executive Responsibility:
    • Represent the company as an ambassador to employees, clients, partners, the public, and executive leadership.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in construction leadership on complex projects, with a proven track record of delivering commercial success.
  • In-depth expertise in civil construction and rail systems.
  • Experience working with complex contractual agreements and project financing.
  • At least 3 years of experience working on complex rail projects and stations.
  • Proven ability to manage large and complex construction projects through the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience working with international joint venture partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of change management principles, including identifying significant variations, claims identification, narration, quantification, and evaluation.
  • Proven track record with claims management and dispute resolution on major projects.
  • Experience with risk identification and management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
Compensation Package:
  • $300,000+ annual salary, plus annual bonus, and excellent benefits package.
