Job Overview

The University of Niagara Falls Canada is seeking a skilled Research and Instruction Librarian to join our team. As an Academic Library Specialist, you will play a vital role in shaping the university's information literacy instruction model and contributing to student success.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and creative librarian who can develop and teach course-integrated library instruction sessions for classes across campus disciplines, both in person and online. You will also be responsible for collaborating with faculty and library staff to create and maintain a student-centered information literacy curriculum.

Main Responsibilities
  • Information Literacy Instruction: Develop and teach course-integrated library instruction sessions, provide training sessions for library staff, and collaborate with faculty to create and maintain a student-centered information literacy curriculum.
  • Collection Management: Develop and maintain a collection of electronic resources that support teaching and research needs, evaluate and recommend materials, and promote the use of these collections through communication with departments.
  • Reference and Research Assistance: Provide scheduled Services Desk shifts, one-on-one research consultations, and collaborate with faculty and library staff to create and maintain a student-centered information literacy curriculum.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent.
  • At least one to three years' experience of reference service and Information Literacy instruction, preferably in an academic library.
  • Working knowledge of face-to-face and online pedagogy, and teaching and learning strategies at the university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, and carry out projects, both independently and as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current technologies such as LibGuides , media creation, reference chat, social media, etc.
  • Experience using tutorial creation software packages.
  • Commitment to scholarship, service, and ongoing professional growth and development.
Estimated Salary Range:

$55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
