About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Alberta Health Services as a Clinical Supervisor in our Addictions and Mental Health department. As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff, ensuring they provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
  • Observe clinical sessions, review clinical documentation and written reports, conduct team case consultations, and offer support and guidance to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases.
  • Work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists, and community partners to support effective professional and collaborative practice.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community.
  • Identify and address gaps in clinical practice, as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues.
  • Provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation of clinical staff.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 – 6 years of recent experience in addictions and mental health, preferably in a community setting.
  • Knowledge and skill in mental health assessment, risk assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, brief solution-focused therapy, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with community and external stakeholders.
  • Strong abilities in working within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated contribution in emerging programs is essential.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Efficient with LOCUS tool (Level of Care Utilization System).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference to those with experience working in and with crisis response, community outreach, and 24-hour programs.
  • Familiarity or experience working with law enforcement and external partners would be an asset.
