Requirements and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant education and 2 years of supervisory experience in a food processing facility. Knowledge of sanitation and its relation to food safety is a must. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all cleaning and sanitation is executed in compliance with GMPs, Safety, WHMIS, HACCP, CFIA, and AMI "Principles of Sanitary Design" in addition to Maple Leaf Foods Corporate standards.

  • Supervise and control the cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment, utensils, and the entire plant environment.
  • Develop, implement, execute, and evaluate the Sanitation Program and take corrective action to prevent product contamination.
  • Manage a team of contract sanitation staff, providing direction, technical support, and motivation.
  • Plan sanitation requirements and activities by establishing priorities, scheduling, assigning work, and communicating with sanitation staff and key stakeholders.
  • Audit and report non-compliance and take corrective actions to ensure compliance to all quality assurance food safety requirements.
  • Manage the Sanitation operating budget, monitor, and update Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Lead regular Sanitation meetings with Plant Manager, Maintenance, Contractors, Operations, and QA.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Post-secondary education
  • 2 years' supervisory experience, ideally in a food processing facility
  • Knowledge and experience with Sanitation as it relates to Food Safety
  • Aptitude for continuous learning
  • Flexibility to work midnight shift and weekends
