Learning Commons Facilitator Position Overview

Lethbridge School Division is seeking a collaborative and creative individual to support our schools as a Learning Commons Facilitator.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team and will work collaboratively to create an environment that is available to individuals and groups for multiple purposes. They will support literacy, numeracy, competency development, and student learning outcomes by providing access to print and digital resources, including technology for learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act in an advisory role to assist students and staff in locating material and using technology and other learning commons resources.
  • Provide support, space, and resources for inquiry, play, and imagination.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of quality learning resources in multiple formats.
  • Work collaboratively with Administration and the school-based Learning Commons Committee to select and acquire material for the learning commons.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma and related experience.
  • Candidates without a two-year diploma in a related program will be required to complete five courses through Mohawk College.
  • Combination of education and experience.
  • Proof of Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Library and Information Technician with some related experience.

  • Valid Social Insurance Number.
