Job Title: Manager, Finance

Brookfield Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Finance to join our Corporate team. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, this role provides a solid foundation and exposure to a progressive and dynamic career with a leading global asset management firm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the consolidation and summarized financial results process for companies within the corporate segment on a quarterly and annual basis for internal management reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute complex technical accounting steps and issues, including coordination with other business units and departments.
  • Manage the monthly financial close cycles and identify opportunities to implement practical changes to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Review daily journal entries and period end accruals.
  • Manage the Finance team's responsibilities in shared service functions across treasury and accounts payable.
  • Collaborate regularly with and respond to the business and finance inquiries from other Brookfield business groups and departments.
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide mentorship to them.
  • Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, tools and reports and make suggestions to implement these into our framework.
  • Lead special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Four to six (4-6) years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function.
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience.
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Experience with public company reporting requirements under IFRS.
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team.
  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, HFM and/or Workiva would be an asset.
