Human Resources Manager

At the Okanagan Indian Band, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead our HR initiatives and contribute to the overall alignment and success between our culture, values, and community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic HR priorities for the OKIB
  • Participate in organizational strategic planning and collaborate with department directors to achieve goals
  • Manage the recruitment process, including sourcing, selection, and onboarding
  • Develop and implement employee training programs and maintain the OKIB Wage Grid
  • Support employee relations, mediate conflicts, and provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees
  • Oversee employee benefits programs and ensure compliance with HR legislative requirements
  • Manage HR databases and systems, and maintain accurate personnel and HR files
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree in a business, science, or related field
  • Minimum two-four years of experience in program coordination, volunteer management, or a related field
  • Familiarity with community research-based principles and extensive knowledge of issues relating to indigenous communities
  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and time management skills
  • Ability to influence and use judgment in decision-making, and effective verbal and written communication
