Stewarding Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stewarding Supervisor to join our team at The Westin Nova Scotian. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by Example - As a Stewarding Supervisor, you will be responsible for setting the tone for cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen. You will lead by example, ensuring that all team members are following proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
  • Attention to Detail - You will be responsible for inspecting the kitchen regularly to ensure that it meets our high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. You will also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Safety First - You will be responsible for ensuring that all team members are following proper safety procedures in the kitchen. This includes training staff on OSHA guidelines and reporting any safety concerns to management.
  • Team Player - As a Stewarding Supervisor, you will be responsible for motivating and leading a team of stewards to achieve our high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current Safe Food Handler Certification required.
  • Familiarity with Ecolab chemicals, correct cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
  • Proficiency with standard cleaning equipment (e.g., dishwashers, floor cleaners).
  • Ability to use computers and related software.
  • Ability to use various pieces of kitchen equipment efficiently and safely, perform medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects), stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning, bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body and arms, work under variable temperatures and noise levels, and have near vision - the ability to see details at close range. Must also be able to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises, and work long hours as is often required.
  • Must be able to multitask and possess good communication skills in English.
  • Flexible availability for morning (AM) and late shifts (PM), covering 5 days across Monday-Sunday.
